The Paradox of Time Affluence
How having more free time can get you more productivity
Having "time affluence" is one of the most underrated concepts for becoming more productive and living a happier life. ⏱
Time affluence refers to the feeling that one has ample time on a daily basis.
Conventional wisdom tells us that to be productive, we should fill every possible moment of our time.
The result? Busy schedules, meticulously planned with no room to breathe. This was my life for the longest time.
Although this approach might seem logically productive, I realized over time that I was losing more than I was gaining by not having time affluence.
So, I began to reduce my daily "must-dos" to a minimum, ensuring I had plenty of free, unplanned time.
Once I started embracing more time affluence, I realized several benefits:
1️⃣ My ideas and intellectual curiosity were boosted, as I had time to be bored.
2️⃣ I experienced reduced anxiety when things didn't go as planned due to the flexibility I had.
3️⃣ I became a better husband and father by increasing my availability.
4️⃣ I enjoyed more interesting coffee chats, being more open to meeting with people who reached out, increasing my network
Life became more vibrant, and I have no intention of reverting to a packed schedule again. :)
